blue bird

greg & I were watching these tiny blue birds in our post oaks yesterday.
they were too fast for my camera, but did not escape my sumi-e impression!

big ole wish!
we're having a huge thunderstorm on our prairie tonight.
it's romantic so long it doesn't get out of hand.

how's the weather behaving in your area?

altar, flower offerings

we had beautiful rain this morning ~so, i like to go to this rock on the east side of prairie hill because i know it fills with blessed rainwater ~ i like to sprinkle it on my head.  today i filled the natural basin with the beautiful wildflowers.  an altar ~ an offering ~ a reminder that God clothes the flowers of the field ~ he feeds the birds of the air and he takes care of his people.

"beauty is an ecstacy; it is as simple as hunger.
there is really nothing to be said about it."
 - W.S. Maugham

'sensitive briar' is abundant on the prairie fields now.

the monarchs like the 'prairie parsley.'

oklahoma is blanketed in yellow - mostly this is "sneezeweed."
it doesn't make you sneeze!
God bless your week.

Prairie Hill end of April...
Three days-worth of pictures, mostly flowers.
A miracle happened - Molly, the missing dog from Friday returned on Sunday.
She was locked in a garage for two days - we thought the worst - a snake got her.
Jed calls her dog 'Unsinkable Molly'  Molly is 12 and Jed the owner/my neighbor
is a robust 90.  I love them both - they are unsinkable!
I don't know what got me - but I had a stomach bug on Sunday.
I started feeling better then Zody seemed to have a tummy ache.
Lot's of nature walks help!  We are on the mend.

Wishing everyone a great week.

rest

 a future monarch,,,
i had lots of pictures and things i wanted to share, but this friday night turned out a little different.
my neighbor's dog disappeared - so the neighborhood men went in search of molly, the missing one
and jed and i went to the police station (which was closed in our little town).
we walked around again then night fell and we went inside her house and had tea and talked
about possible scenarios with molly. jed thought coyotes got her  - i don't think so,
we both thought a possible snake bite,,, i hope not.
there's still hope that molly will make it back home.  at sunrise i'm going back out to look for her.

wish you a restful weekend. hope i have good news about molly tomorrow.

Gossamer Gypsy

"Gossamer Gypsy," encaustic diptych
Gossamer gypsy, a spirit, a sailor
You are held like the wind~
Vanishing with the dawn
And running away with colors

I'm looking forward to tonight's artshow in my very own Medicine Park cobbled-resort.
Our town is unique - our artists are unique.

Artshow

Cobblestone Galleries is hosting a Medicine Park Artists Exhibit on Wednesday, April 18th from 5-8 p.m. Following the opening, music will
be performed by Mockingbird on the Main Stage from 8-9:30 p.m.
The Medicine Park Marauders (street performance) will also
be out and about and shops will extend hours.
The weather will be perfect for all of the above. :)

Two of my favorite encaustic pieces will be in this show.

Good Monday

"Zo close"
Most of my energy has gone into prayer and nursing my sick dog for the past week.
Two vet visits and three medicines later - healing came like welcome sunshine after
days of darkness.  Last night, he had a huge burst of energy and seemed to be more
like himself.  I can read all his feelings, fears,,, and his eyes .

Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. Psalm 116:7

What a gift tonight to discover a new bloom in my OWN wild backyard!!!
The Large Flowered Beard Tongue
Delicate ~ large ~ lavender tongues!!!!

I made natural bug repellant tonight. Found the recipe in Country Living Magazine.

I doubled my batch but here is the ratio:
3 1/2 ounces witch hazel
1/2 teaspoon lemongrass oil
1/2 teaspoon eucalyptus oil
1/2 teaspoon citronella oil

unidentified/tree along nature path

I have to mention a very good film that we watched over the weekend.

The Descendants

Wishing you a great week!
